March 2026 General Meeting

For our March General Meeting, we welcome 2 speakers who will speak to the historical roots and the challenges of our current political climate:

First, Professor James L. TaylorProfessor and Department Chair of Political Science at the University of San Francisco who specializes in race and ethnicity in politics, will relate the current political backlash resulting from the Obama presidency to political cycles that have been recurring throughout our country's history, as first chronicled by Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. in The Cycles of American History  (published in 1986)Prof. Taylor will talk about the effects of these cycles on generations and how these cycles involve rehashing old issues packaged as new problems. 

Then Jessica Krauth LPCC, a Livermore private practice mental health therapist, will speak on the mental health impact of the current political climate and ways to care for personal mental health during times of chronic stress.
