Screening of ‘The Librarians’
January 25, 2026
The screening of the documentary “The Librarians” was a great night at the movies!
The sold-out audience learned the history of recent book bans told through the experiences of several librarians who worked to protect First Amendment rights for their communities.
Following the movie, we heard from local librarians about their own experiences and how the public can support them from these types of threats.
Thank you to all who participated. We are happy to report that a donation of more than $2,000 will be sent to Friends of the Livermore Library, the event co-sponsor.
We also thank Livermore Advocates for Public Education for conducting the panel discussion.
and Towne Center Books and First Street Alehouse for major financial support. (Towne Center also brought a display of banned books!)
And of course, a big thank you to Vine Cinema. In just a few weeks the DVD will be available to check out from our own awesome Livermore Library.
