“A different kind of SUPERHERO movie.” -The Hollywood Reporter, in its review of The Librarians
Livermore Indivisible (in conjunction with the Livermore Library and Friends of the Livermore Library) is holding a special screening of The Librarians at the Vine Cinema & Alehouse in Livermore. This film explores the role of librarians at the frontline dealing with the recent book bans and their defense of First Amendment rights and thus our democracy - because banning books not only bans words in books but also the ideas in school and society.
Get tickets now for this one-night showing on January 25. All proceeds benefit Friends of the Livermore Library, co-sponsors of the event with Livermore Indivisible. A panel discussion with librarians follows the film, facilitated by Livermore Advocates for Public Education.
Variety Magazine says of this film: "A gripping story of what is at stake when curiosity and thinking are endangered… It introduces viewers to the everyday and increasingly vital heroes pushing back."
Tickets may be purchased at The Vine or HERE for $10, plus a small fee for the online purchase. Tickets will be sold at the door if seats are available. The Vine’s snack bar will be open for food and beverages.
Doors open at 6:00 pm. Film begins at 7:00 pm. Panel discussion follows at approximately 8:40 pm.
