Actions to Take This Week
Join LI’s May General Mtg
Register for Livermore Indivisible’s May General Meeting, focused on Corruption in America.
Our May General Meeting will feature speaker Michael Johnston, Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Colgate University. Professor Johnston will discuss corruption in America, focusing on the current administration. Professor Johnston is the co-author of "Corruption in America" (published in April 2026) and author of the Foreign Affairs' August 2025 article "The New American Hustle: Trump Is Changing Corruption and Making It More Dangerous".
Oppose I.C.E. Detention in Dublin
Submit a public comment to oppose I.C.E. Detention Facility in Dublin. We need thousands of people to offer comments online to oppose opening an I.C.E. prison in Dublin.
On May 1, the month-long period of public comment opened. Now we must forcefully oppose the re-purposing of FCI Dublin as an ICE detention center, based on a recent environmental assessment. The ICE Out of Dublin Coalition provides a toolkit, including an email template. Comments must be received before June 1, so please send an email opposing the re-opening and demanding that the moldy, asbestos-ridden facility be demolished.
Stop Funding ICE and BP
Urge Democrats to oppose the latest GOP effort to shovel $ billions more to I.C.E. and Border Patrol. Republicans released the initial text of their reconciliation funding bill. In addition to the $70 billion they want to shovel into the regime’s mass deportation machine, they also snuck in $1 billion for Trump’s White House ballroom. What’s not in the bill? Anything that would address the cost of living crisis that’s crushing millions of American families.
Republicans know their agenda is massively unpopular, but they’re hoping they can pass this bill quickly before the public hears about it. So, we need to move faster, be louder, and build a backlash big enough to stop this bill in its tracks.
Get Ready: June 2 Primary
The June 2 Primary is a very important election so make sure your vote counts, especially if you vote by mail. The Registrar of Voters offices in San Joaquin and Alameda counties have started to mail ballots to all registered voters, so you should receive yours soon, if you haven't already. To track your ballot, you can sign up at http://wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov/
Given the crowded field for governor, we recommend NOT voting early -- at least until there are clearer leaders. This is a strategy to keep the race from becoming two candidates from the same party. This means that you should drop off your ballot at an official ballot drop box through Election Day. Find locations of drop boxes near you using the links below.
Join ACLU Training
Join ACLU People Power Training on May 13 at 5 p.m. PT
Over the past 18 months, you’ve been part of building real community power. Every action has helped coalesce our movement. Knowing how to organize in moments like this helps ensure we can withstand even the most chaotic times.
This month, ACLU’s Organizing to Protect Democracy session focuses on The Role of Activists—a training on how to re-energize during periods of exhaustion and how our individual roles have a large part to play in building our movement.
Register to Be Notified of Our Recurring Protests
Livermore Indivisible organizes weekly Pop-Up and other recurring protests at various spots in Livermore, to inspire our neighbors and let the community know we are not giving up the fight!
